The Youth in Fisheries project was established in 2014 to support the President’s Agenda for Prosperity as a means of reducing unemployment rate within the youth sector and to promote self-reliance. The project targets both male and female youths within the fishing industry in seven districts- Western Urban, Western Rural, Kambia, Port Loko, Moyamba, Bonthe and Pujehun.
PROJEECT OBJECTIVES:
- To create employment for the youth in Sierra Leone, targeting 1,000 post Ebola youths nationwide, specifically in Kambia, Port Loko, Western Urban, Western Rural, Moyamba, Bonthe and Pujehun.
- The construction of 130 boats with 40 horse power engines for youths in fishing communities and with all necessary fishing equipment
- To add and improve food nutrition status of the populace and add to national security
- To create job opportunities and livelihood for 1000 post Ebola youth in the fishing communities
- To enhance economics empowerment for youths in coastal areas
