Chinese Ambassador WU Peng Meets with Sierra Leonean Minister of Youth Affairs Mohamed Bangura

Ambassador WU pointed out that the youth stands for the hope of a country and input in youth means input in the country’s future. Ambassador WU went on to say that the Chinese government would continue to support the development of youth affairs in Sierra Leone, which forms a very important part of President Bio’s New Direction policy. He assured the Minister of the Chinese Embassy’s commitment to deepening cooperation with the Ministry in areas such as vocational and technical training to boost Sierra Leone’s youth advancement. He said China would focus on creating more opportunities for Sierra Leone young people to fully tap their talent.

Minister Bangura expressed gratitude to the Chinese Ambassador for the firm support from China. He told the Ambassador that, the youth make up the bulk of Sierra Leone population, and yet the youth are beset by the problem of unemployment and poverty. He noted that the youth were eager to improve their skills in order to gain employment and economic independence. He observed that China had offered substantial support to Sierra Leone’s youth affairs by creating many job opportunities. This, he said, showed that China was a friend indeed and that the youthful population would become a vigorous promoting force for the friendship between the two nations.
